Post-production / ADR
This project was carried out using a clip from the film 'Inception' (2010). Its objective was to replace all the audio from the original movie, from the perspective of audio post-production. To achieve this, ADR was done for all the characters, sound design based on a combination of Foley and editing of library sounds, sound design with synthesizers, and editing of stock music. A major focus of the project was sound mixing, which brought dynamism to the scenes through the application of various filters and reverberations.
ADR
Dialogue replacement was conducted using a condenser microphone to achieve a clear and neutral sound. Actors were guided by a cue sound to begin their recordings. Voices were edited, selecting the best takes and synchronizing lip movements through cutting, dragging, and time-stretching. Mixing played a vital role in balancing the recordings through volume automation, equalisation, and the application of reverbs to position each character in different settings.
Foley
The foley crafted for this scene was comprehensive, covering every aspect from clothing rustles and footsteps to object manipulation. The sounds of cars and city environments were artificially created by combining multiple recordings from sound libraries, processed with filters and reverb to achieve a realistic effect that seamlessly complements camera changes and perspectives.
Sound Design
The sound design of this scene was created by combining pre-recorded processed samples and sounds crafted using FM and subtractive synthesis. Examples of this can be heard at 1:38 when the flight attendant presses the button, and at 4:07 when the train collides with the protagonists' car.
